Bags Made Out of Bags!

I’ve been over at Lydia’s (Mathew’s little sister) house quite often, recently…  We’ve been making bags out of bags…  It’s real fun, but harder than it looks…  In fact, I messed up so drastically in the crocheting process that I have to start over again.

Steps for Making a Fairly Large Tote

Step 1:  Collect or buy 100 some bags

Step 2:  Cut the handles and the bottom off.  (You can do a couple of bags at a time.)

Step 3:  Fold vertically 2 times.

Step 4:  Cut horizontally into 1 – 1.5 inch pieces.

Step 5:  Once finished cutting, make sure your peices create loops.

Step 6:  Figure out how you want your bag to look.  (If you want random or organized.)

Step 7:  If you chose random then you won’t have to make your yarn in a particular order.  However, if you want it organized then you’ll have to seperate the colors.

Step 8:  Once you’ve figured it all out, start making yarn.  To do so take two loops.  Put one under the other.  Now put the one you just put under through itself.  Tighten until the knot is small.  Be careful not to stretch the loop.  Once you think you have enough yarn for the size of a ball start rapping.

Step 9:  I made 13 balls just to make sure I wouldn’t have to make any more…  Believe me, you won’t want to do more!

Step 10:  Once you’ve got your balls, take a break.  Your fingers are going to need some rest.

Step 11:  Once you’ve taken a sufficient nap, start crocheting in a circular motion.

To be honest this post is long as it is, so if you’re interested and want more in depth details on how to crochet the bag, I’d be happy to email you or make an appointment to teach you…  Take some time to think about it, it’s a big under taking!

Yours Truly,

P.S.  Hope to right more soon!  Have utter patience with me…

Here is what one looks like.  Pretty cool, right?  Still working on mine, so not that big yet!

Water Coloring

I’ve been doing a lot of water-coloring lately.  Were going to Door County soon! (July 5th-July 17th) I am so excited!  We go up there every July and for the past few years I’ve been water-coloring like crazy.  This year, however, I want to sell my watercolors up there.  A lot of the locals know me, and I think I might sell a few.  It’s worth a shot and it’s more for fun anyhow!  What are your plans for the rest of the summer?  Have any adventures you’re dying to vent about?  Either way, check out my comment bar or use the blue stars to rate!

Loving Chicago

Every time I go to Chicago, I do something different. When I was younger, I went to the American Girl Doll Outlet. When I was older I liked going to Shedd’s Aquarium. Now, when we go to visit family we take the train and go shopping. However, out of all the times I’ve been to Chicago, the trip yesterday was spectacular and different. Navy Pier was so fantastic that I didn’t want to leave. Following Navy Pier came Magnificent Mile where we “shopped “til’ we dropped.” Most of us didn’t buy tons of stuff on Michigan Avenue because we “splurged” at Navy Pier. Nevertheless, it was tons of fun. There are two floors of Forever 21! We shopped at the building across from Bloomingdale’s. It had countless levels and half of our time at the building was spent riding the fun elevators and escalators. Overall, we had tons of fun even though it was raining! In fact, the rain made it an adventure! Thank you Mr. Skonecki and Ms. Mattson for planning this field trip. What did you do in Chicago?

P.S. I can’t wait to go to Navy Pier again on a sunny day! (So I can ride the ferris wheel.)

Most teenagers my age would swallow down an Easter basket in no time but I still have left over candy!  Come to mention it, most of the candy the Easter bunny delivered was pez!  I love pez.  The fun containers are handy and portable and whenever you want a craving you can pop the one of the little bit sized candies (numerously flavored) into your mouth.  Did you know that they have chocolate flavored pez?  All this talk of pez is inspiring me, really.  Maybe I’ll start a collection of pez containers or waffle down a package when I get home.  Whatever the case I hope you comment, rate, and enjoy some pez this summer.

It’s such a cool word, “pez!”

P.S.  This weekend was jam-packed with homework! 😦

Theres seven more days until Graduation!

I know the lilac, crab, and magnolia tree seasons are well over but there are a couple stragglers… Those stragglers are making my day! Whenever I’m having a hard and frustrating day like this one; nothing puts my mind more at peace then the smell of a lilac tree! Fragrant, purple, and sweet… What smells make you smile?

Bare Feet

I get in trouble all the time fore never wearing coats and refusing to wear socks and shoes out of the house (aside from school.) I don’t know what my deal is. I love the feeling of cold grass, dew, sand and sidewalk on my feet! Is that wrong? In my opinion, that’s how it was. Not that I’m calling myself a cave woman or anything but thats how it was back then. People didn’t go hunt down mammoths in Nike’s and Adidas’s! Hmmmmm… I going to have to think on the subject a little longer but all in all I don’t think its wrong to be bare feet or to hate socks or to dislike shoes. Its the gypsy coming out in me! That reminds me… I wanted to share a song with you… It’s one of my favorites. Gypsy by Shakira. Tonight I’ll try to post that song on my blog! “Ta Ta my friend!”

Tomatoes vs. Ketchup

All my life I’ve been the kind of person to like things like banana bread and ketchup but not like their sources. Some of my friends are like that but I feel the need to get it out there because I’m totally freaked out be it! How can someone love a product but not love its source. It’s totally wacky but at the same time it makes sense. For instance, I don’t like bananas because of their texture but love my Mom’s banana bread because it might have the taste but it gets rid of that weird texture. Am I weird? Am I going totally bonkers? Are you that kind of person? Comment and help me cope with this condition!

Extreme Wind

Is it just me or do you too, “have a feeling were not in Kansas in anymore!”

P.S.  I’ve done two post today so make sure to check on the previous one and comment!

You know those great fireworks that you can hold in your hand?  They look like wands and they’re called sparklers…  I love them!  We had like a ton left from last year so we used them last night on Samantha’s birthday and we had a blast.  What is your favorite type of firework?

Home Depot

Don’t you think it’s kind of odd that every time you plan out a blog post the day before, you forget entirely about it the next day. So really, its no use! Let’s get to the point, hence the title, “Home Depot.” Well, we finally picked out our carpet and paint for the third floor but whats even more interesting is what happened to my mother upon entering the flower center there.  So, she was looking at the orchids innocently, right?  They’re exotic plants so they’re real pretty and exotic.  She really loved this one that was a beautiful green and coral orange.  Getting to the climax here, I promise!  Being her curious self she went to sniff it and examine it’s unique center.  Shes a master gardener and she had never seen one before!  So while she was about an inch from the flower this huge exotic spider woke up and started stretching its legs.  My mother was so shocked that she said she jumped three feet high!  Though, that probably was an exaggeration…  She loves spiders and so she didn’t report it.  It must have been exotic!  Have you ever seen a green or pink spider around here that has perfect orchid camouflage?  It’s pretty creepy but all the same I’ve learned to just ignore bugs and let them live their life.  Pretty interesting story, don’t you think?  Comment on what you think!

Yellow Rasberries

Did you know there is such a thing? Turns out there is a lot of stuff I don’t know! Don’t worry, I’m getting there. I learn something new everyday! No ground breaking news on whether or not they taste good. I mean, my Mom doesn’t like them but… Oh well, at least they exist! Who knows, maybe I’ll try one sometime.

I guess theres nothing else to write about, is there? Well, anyway its not like I cant write a post, I made a vow to myself never to skip a day without a legitimate excuse so here it goes! I’m kind of frustrated with my schedule! Every school activity has to be on a Tuesday or Thursday and those are the days that I’ve got something downtown. (extra curricular) I mean, I’m not asking for the world to change for me but it would sure be nice if something was on a Wednesday or Monday. How do they expect Forensic members and Volleyball members to practice at the same time? How do people with other things going manage there schedule? I mean, I’m pretty good at managing my schedule and sacrificing stuff that I don’t need but I can’t give up orchestra and I want to do Forensics and Volleyball! (Orchestra is on Thursdays. Ironic, huh?) I guess I’m just going to have to settle for the private meetings with Ms. Wells and get to whatever practices I can. Hopefully there not all on Thursdays from here on out. Any other day! Come on! Plus, I have to start all over cause the rules have changed from last year. Over the summer I worked on my storytelling piece for this year but now we cant make up our own piece anymore so I’m left searching for a good author… Thats all, nothing but frustration. Got suggestions?
